American Samoan auditor's fate to be decided in fono vote

4:01 pm on 3 May 2005

The future of American Samoa's territorial auditor, George Webster, will be decided by the House of Representatives tomorrow.

The Governor Togiola Tulafono has called for Mr Webster's contract to be terminated.

A spokesman for the governor, Vince Iuli, says the senate has already voted with 12 votes to two and with one abstention to terminate the contract.

Vince Iuli says Mr Webster has already moved out of the territorial audit office.

"He was leaving it in the hands of the legislature, the fono so if the fono didn't approve of the termination, he will be back as approved by law as he's getting his fair share by facing the legislature. But if the house says no, he should be back in office, probably on the same day."
