Fiji is to have a new wireless Internet service by August.

Radio Legend reports the service will be provided a joint venture between its parent company, Communications Fiji Limited, and Hi-Tech of Australia to be known as UNWIRED FIJI.

The wireless Internet service will be launched initially to cover the Suva area and then be extended across the country by the end of the year.

The company is promising affordable Internet to people including rural dwellers and isolated schools for educational purposes.
