The US House of Representatives has approved almost US$33 millon for American Samoa in the 2006 fiscal budget for the Department of the Interior.

Congressman Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin says American Samoa continues to be the only state or territory to receive federal funds for the operations of its local government.

US$2m will be set aside for the purchase of urgently needed medicines and supplies for the LBJ Hospital.

American Samoa will also receive US$9.5m for construction and capital improvement projects.
