The Cook Islands deputy prime minister Sir Geoffrey Henry says the national consultation on the Pacific Plan has produced impressive results.

The Cook Islands is one of the few remaining countries in the Pacific to undergo consultation over the Plan.

The plan is an initiative by the current forum leaders to address problems and upgrade the region in areas of economic growth, sustainable development, good governance and security.

The report on the consultations will be tabled in cabinet for approval before being forwarded to the Pacific Taskforce set up to finalise the Pacific Plan for presentation at the October Pacific Forum leaders meeting.

Sir Geoffrey opened the consultation which included stakeholders and a Pacific Islands Forum deputy secretary general Iosefa Maiava.

"I was very impressed by some of the ideas that came out of the consultation that happened. So much so, I indicated to the group of invited participants that such a consultation process could be held more often in the Cook islands given the wonderful recommendations that came through."
