The inter-Samoa talks have been concluded at a Samoan resort, with the American Samoan governor saying there is no rift despite recent difficulties in establishing mutually acceptable travel conditions.
The two sides tightened immigration procedures recently which has become a key issue to be discussed.
Governor Togiola Tulafono says he respects Samoa's decision to establish a permit requirement for American Samoans.
But he said he was disappointed with the call by the territory's delegate to the US Congress, Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin, who suggested that Samoans should be required to get visas.
The talks also covered education, agriculture and health issues.
The meeting was held on the eve of Samoa's independence day celebrations in Apia which will also be attended by the French Polynesian president, Oscar Temaru.
