The American Samoan government will now seek reimbursement for programmes it funded locally after the U.S. government froze federal education grants for two years.
The U.S. department of education has now lifted its restrictions on funding which it imposed after designating the territory as high risk over concerns about accountability.
Our correspondent, Monica Miller, says the department had withheld half of the grant money intended for the territory's education administrators but now the U.S. is satisfied with the controls put in place to account for federal grant spending.
Ms Miller says the American Samoan government put up the funds for the programmes itself so no services were restricted.
"I do not believe that there have been any reports of cutbacks in any of these services. The ASG was funding a lot of these things upfront so now they can get reimbursed, now that the U.S. government has allowed the freeze to be lifted."
