The Solomon Islands Governor General, Sir Nathaniel Waena, this afternoon presented New Zealand Prime Minister, Helen Clark, with the country's highest honour.

Sir Nathaniel gave Miss Clark the Order of the Star of Solomon Islands.

Miss Clark says she accepted the award on behalf of the more than 300 New Zealanders who, as members of the Regional Assistance Mission, helped bring peace and stability to the Solomons.

The Prime Minister of Australia, John Howard, had earlier been given the same honour.
