Fiji home affairs minister denies seeking military commander's removal

Fiji's home affairs minister has denied that the government wanted President Ratu Josefa Iloilo to suspend the military commander, Commodore Frank Bainimarama.

Josefa Vosanibola, has told Radio Legend that certain sources in the government have been feeding false information to the media.

Mr Vosanibola has also denied reports that the government was disappointed with President Iloilo for not suspending the military commander for alleged insubordination.

He says the government has the utmost respect for the Office of the President and has never questioned any decisions made by him.

Mr Vosanibola says he has met Commodore Bainimarama after the speculation surfaced and still maintains a good relationship with the head of the military.

He says the relationship and link is as intact as always and he has no difficulty at all in communications with the commander.
