An orthopedic surgeon is expected to arrive in Guam later this week to overcome a shortage of specialists at the only civilian hospital.

Dr James Murphy at Guam Memorial hospital told the Pacific Daily News that one patient was being sent to Saipan because of the absence of an orthopedic surgeon.

The public has been advised that off-road driving, biking, hiking and highly active sports that could lead to injuries, should be avoided.

And, another doctor, Dr George Macris, says the general state of health care at the hospital is good but they are lacking specialty coverage which should be taken care of by the administration.
