10:22 am on 7 July 2005

The sacked chief executive of Fiji's finance ministry, Tevita Banuve, has been appointed the new chief executive of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority.

The Authority chairman, Nelson Delailomaloma, says Mr Banuve would also be the new Commissioner of Inland Revenue and Controller of Customs.

Mr Banuve succeeds Sila Kotobalavu whose contract was not renewed by the Revenue and Customs Authority after it expired at the end of May.

Mr Kotobalavu has taken the non-renewal of his contract to the High Court where it will be heard tomorrow.
