Fiji Trade and Investment Bureau cancels 16 foreign certificates

7:57 am on 15 July 2005

The Fiji Trade and Investment Bureau (FTIB) has cancelled 16 business certificates it had issued to foreign companies to operate in Fiji.

The Fiji Sun reports that the FTIB took action against these companies after conducting random checks on every fifth project registered with it.

The Bureau has warned that it will take action if it finds that a foreign entity is not a bona fide investor in Fiji.

Apart from the 16 foreign registrations which were cancelled, the Bureau gave six companies 15 days notice to stop their operations.
