Second earthquake shakes Hawai'i

9:42 am on 19 July 2005

A second earthquake, estimated at 5 point 2 on the Richter scale, has shaken the Big Island of Hawai'i.

No injuries or damage were reported as a result of the quake which was located at sea about 69 miles south of Hilo.

The quake is the biggest recorded in that area since the U.S. Geological Survey's Hawaiian Volcano Observatory began monitoring 43 years ago.

The observatory says the quake was not related to another magnitude 5.2 earthquake which shook the island last week.
