An advocate group in Samoa, Mapusaga o Aiga, is commending the justice system for taking a serious stand on domestic violence and sexual abuse.

It says the sentencing to life in jail last week of a father who raped, abused and threatened to kill his daughters, sends a strong message to everyone that perpetrators and offenders of sexual crimes will not be tolerated

While the group applauds the court's action, its president, Tevaui Letiu Palupe, is urging everyone including church ministers, chiefs, women, youth and society as a whole to promptly bring such cases to the attention of authorities.
