A former Solomon Islands cabinet minister who faced 25 counts of official corruption has been discharged by the Central Magistrates Court in Honiara.

Clement Rojumana, who's 61, resigned in March as minister for provincial government, after he was accused of granting illegal citizenship certificates to Chinese nationals.

Principal Magistrate Mandik Kapin discharged Mr Rojumana on the basis that the charges against him were defective.

Mr Rojumana said he would go back and explain his position to his constituents.
