American Samoa detective held on suspicion of shooting neighbour

A police detective in American Samoa is being held in custody after being charged with shooting and wounding one of his neighbours.

Abel Penitusi faces three counts of first-degree assault, possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.

A member of the the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau, Mr Penitusi is being held at the correctional facility with bail set at US$50,000.
