A former broadcaster is to stand as a candidate in Samoa's general elections.

The Samoa Observer reports that Paepae Letoa, who worked in television in both Samoa and American Samoa, is to contest one of two seats for the Safata electorate.

Paepae Letoa will be on the list as Tuia Logoiai Pa'a Letoa after his family elevated him to the title.

Tuia Logoiai is well known in political circles after campaigning for the A P Lutali-Tauese Sunia ticket, when they bid for the governor-lieutenant governor posts in American Samoa.

The two seats in Safata are currently held by the Minister for Information Technology and an independent MP.
