The call by some members of the Cook Islands Party for their leader Sir Geoffrey Henry to step down, has not fazed the former Deputy Prime Minister.
The prime minister, Jim Marurai, sacked Sir Geoffrey from cabinet last week, and then the justice minister, Tupou Faireka, asked Sir Geoffrey to relinquish the party leadership.
However, Sir Geoffrey says party members have chosen him to stay.
"Either Tom or Tupou or others would be able to take over. The party responded in a way that touched me very much - in the sense that it was solidly behind myself. If that decision is anything to go by, I'm not under any pressure at all."
