Fiji's international carrier, Air Pacific, is considering buying a domestic airline to expand its services to local routes.

The Fiji Times reports that Air Pacific's managing director, John Campbell, did not wish to reveal the name of the domestic airline involved but confirmed talks are being held for a potential acquisition.

Mr Campbell said Air Pacific is engaged in a due diligence review of the domestic airline, with a decision expected by the end of September.

Earlier this year, Air Pacific announced that it was planning to re-enter domestic routes which is had abandoned to local carriers more than 25 years ago.
