Fiji RFU bans Rupeni Caucau

3:27 pm on 26 August 2005

The Fiji Rugby Union Board has decided to impose a 12-month ban on Rupeni Caucau from representing Fiji at any level or from playing rugby in Fiji.

The decision follows the player's adverse behaviour during the Rugby World Cup qualifiers in June and July.

Caucau failed to travel with the national team to Nadi airport on Monday July the 25th, then turned up but failed to board the plane to Apia.

He withdrew from boarding the flight at the last moment when his wife developed a toothache, just after he was told that he would have to pay for the cost of her flight to Apia.

The bans ends on August the 24th 2006.
