Two members of an Australian community in the state of Victoria are set to travel to Kiribati this week with about US$7,500 worth of equipment for disabled children.
Faye Squires has worked with visually impaired children in Australia, and was moved to raise cash to help physically and mentally disabled children in Kiribati after a recent visit there.
Ms Squires says she saw disabled children sitting on the ground without furniture or toys, and felt astonishment, shock and sadness.
She persuaded the Lions Club in the Victorian town of Dookie to fill a shipping container with puzzles, toys, typewriters, computers and braille writers.
