Tropical depression heading for Northern Marianas

A tropical depression east of Guam is forecast to strengthen and head towards the northernmost Mariana islands.

The US joint typhoon centre predicts the storm will reach the islands within the next two days.

By that time, it forecasts sustained winds of 93 kilometres an hour and gusts up to 120 kilometres an hour
