Fiji's police commissioner has called on politicians NOT to use fear tactics to gain votes in the lead up to next year's general election.
Radio Legend says Andrew Hughes's warning follows statements that there will be instability unless indigenous parties win the election.
Mr Hughes says police have a role to ensure that people are able to make their voting decisions without any undue interference.
He says he supports the military commander, Commodore Bainimarama's view that there will not be any more coups.
Mr Hughes has warned that the police and the military will not tolerate people who have an agenda to agitate for unrest and they could face charges under the Public Order Act.
