Samoa raises minimum wage to 74 US cents an hour

The Samoan government has approved an increase in the private sector minimum wage.

Cabinet has approved the recommendation in the Minimum Wage Review Report for the increase of the minimum wage for all workers in the private sector from 59 US cents an hour to 74 US cents an hour.

A government statement says the private sector minimum wage increase is to be effective from 26th September local time.

The order will be enforced by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour.
