American Samoan senate president wants fuel tanks relocated

3:14 pm on 9 September 2005

The American Samoa Senate President, Lolo Moliga, has called for the relocation of jet fuel tanks at the Pago Pago International Airport for safety and environmental reasons.

However, Sione Kava at the government's Office of Petroleum Management says the government lacks funding for such a project.

He says the situation is a ticking bomb, describing it as hazardous.

Through a resolution introduced in the Senate, Lolo has called on Governor Togiola Tulafono to arrange for the re-location of the tanks.
