Life terms for three PNG killer cops

3:18 pm on 12 September 2005

Three Papua New Guinea policemen have been jailed for life for murdering a boy, Albert Garry, in Western Highlands three years ago.

Justice Timothy Hinchliffe spared them the death sentence after taking into account their service to the State and because they had no previous criminal conviction.

Their sentencing in Mount Hagen comes three months after a court found them guilty.

The three are Sgt Patrick Towingo, Senior Constable Benson Gambagoli and First Constable Jeffery Negma.
