American Samoa plans fuel tank relocation

3:54 pm on 15 September 2005

The American Samoan senate has passed a resolution calling for the relocation of fuel tanks at Tafuna Airport.

Senator Alo Stevenson said the Petroleum Cooperative planned to relocate the tanks but did not have funding to do the job.

He said the resolution would help move the project along.

There was concern that the petroleum tanks at the airport have posed potential and imminent danger to the public as well as the surrounding ocean area and vegetation for years.
