A Solomon Islands MP, Alfred Sasako, has questioned the accuracy of information given by government departments to potential investors.
This comes after the tourism minister, Trevor Olovae, said the government was to help with a casino licence for the Papua New Guinea developer of a new five star hotel in Honiara.
Mr Sasako has told the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation that the comment is misleading because parliament recently voted to limit casino licences to only two within Honiara for the next five years.
He says unless parliament is again asked to change the law, the five year moratorium remains in place and the third licence cannot be granted.
Mr Sasako says Solomon Islands might be doing itself a disservice by providing misleading information.
