Fiji power company workers may go on strike

4:48 pm on 5 October 2005

Employees of the Fiji Electricity Authority who are members of the Staff Association are likely to go on strike from midnight tonight if the management does not change its stance on negotiations.

Radio Legend quotes the union general secretary, Daniel Urai, as saying talks yesterday ended in a deadlock and a 28-day strike notice expires tomorrow.

Mr Urai says they have informed their members throughout Fiji on what action is to be taken if their demands are ignored.

He says the labour ministry has been informed of the stand-off and the impending strike.
