A woman who's held one of the most powerful Communist offices in China is currently visiting Samoa.

Madam Peng Peiyun, who's a former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress, is leading a delegation.

The visit marks 30 years since Samoa established diplomatic relations with China.

There have been many high level and cultural visits between the two countries since 1975.

The Apia Park Stadium was built by China and the sports facilities for the 2007 South Pacific Games are also financed by the Chinese government.
