The Federated States of Micronesia says it has banned the import of live birds and poultry products from Asian countries hit by bird flu.

Health officials are encouraging the public to report any unusual incidences of dead chickens or birds to local agriculture and quarantine services.

People are being advised not to exchange live birds or poultry products with any sea vessels, from fishing boats to cargo ships.

Officials say all poultry products found in local stores are not from affected countries.
