Fiji coup convict urged to tell all

11:13 am on 23 November 2005

The Fiji coup convict serving a life sentence for treason who has applied for a presidential pardon has been urged to reveal everything he knows if he wants to have his freedom.

Timoci Silatolu, the prime minister named in George Speight's failed administration, applied for a presidential pardon after his application to be released on a Compulsory Supervision Order failed.

The Fiji Sun says the call for Silatolu to reveal all has come from another former coup convict now living in Australia, Maciu Navakasuasua.

Mr Navakasuasua says Silatolu must reveal the names of the coup perpetrators who were working behind the scenes but are now enjoying their life while others are in prison.

He says Silatolu should speak out now for the sake of the Fijian people and the generations to come because the truth is the only way to make the Fijian people progress.

Mr Navakasuasua says it is time for everyone involved in the coup to come clean.
