A member of the Guadalcanal Liberation Front during the ethnic tension in Solomon Islands has appeared in court on charges of murder and abduction.
Walter Roni appeared in the Honiara Magistrates Court yesterday after local and intervention force police arrested him in a village in Guadalcanal on Sunday.
He was charged with one count of murder and two counts of abduction.
Police said people had been taken from their homes and seven people murdered in alleged attacks by the GLF on four villages on the remote Weather Coast in May 2003.
