The New Zealand Government aid agency, NZAID, is providing about 1.2 million US dollars over the next three years to help develop Transparency International chapters in the region.
TI, which concentrates on improving governance and eliminating corruption, has chapters in Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
Rebecca Spratt of NZAID says the money will assist this process.
"Also technical assistance in how to run an NGO and making sure the organisations are functioning well and have financial sustainability, and they are also a providing a response facility, providing information and resources and facilities as the branches need it. It's quite difficult for these isolated NGOs in the Pacific to access information to use for their campaigns."
