PNG soldiers involved in Musingku's Bougainville training - report

There are reports from Papua New Guinea that PNG Defence Force personnel are involved in the training of a self-styled army in Bougainville province.

There has been a group of former Fiji soldiers in the area for some weeks - they are understood to be developing a security detail for scam operator, Noah Musingku.

The Post Courier newspaper says that the Bougainville Government has confirmed reports that two PNGDF soldiers were in Tonu, at the south of the main island, for reasons yet to be established.

But the paper says they have reports that soldiers, as well as journalists, technicians, engineers and others from all over PNG have been travelling in and out of Tonu for months, providing services for Mr Musingku.
