The government in American Samoa has filed a motion for summary judgment in the land title case brought by the Fagaima communal family.

The family is seeking to recover 75 acres of Fagaima land condemned by the government in 1959 for the building of the Pago Pago International Airport in Tafuna, plus other lands at the Lions Park.

The Samoa News says Fagaima Milovale Solaita wants the court to declare that the two deeds, ceding Fagaima communal family land to the government, were invalid from the beginning.

Fagaima also wants the court to declare that the portion of Fagaima communal land, taken by condemnation in 1959 and not used for the airport facility, are reverted to the Fagaima communal family.
