Fiji's president expected to retire when term ends in March

Fiji's president, Ratu Josefa Iloilo, is expected to retire when his term in office ends in March next year.

His deputy, Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi's term in office also ends at the same time.

FijiLive reports that both are eligible for another 5 year term but the president, Ratu Josefa, has indicated he wants to return to his people of Vuda where he is paramount chief.

The Great Council of Chiefs will meet before March 13th to make appointments to the presidential offices.

The GCC will then consult the Prime Minister of its choices.
