Moon supporters demand apology for Fiji government ban

High profile American followers of the controversial South Korean preacher, the Rev Dr Sun Myung Moon, have demanded that the Fiji government lift its ban on their leader and his wife.

They also want the Fiji government to issue an apology for denying him entry into the country at the very last minute two weeks ago.

Fiji TV reports that the demands have been put during a meeting in Washington with Fiji's ambassador to the United States.

Those present at the meeting were Michael Marshall, editor-in-chief of United Press International; Jonathan Aitken, vice president of the Washington Times Corporation and Dan Pefferman, director of the International Coalition for Religious Freedom.

They are part of an international support group for Dr Moon and met Mr Vitusaqavulu on what they said was a "most urgent and distressing matter involving religious discrimination."

When denying Dr Moon entry earlier this month, the Fiji government said his "doctrines were considered misleading, repugnant and divisive and would affect the peace, good order, public safety and the public morality of Fiji."
