The Port Moresby Hospital's chief executive, Dr Alphonse Tay, says the nurses who return to work today won't be docked for their three day strike action.

Four thousand nurses nationwide who walked off the job on Monday in protest at the lack of response from government to address long outstanding issues, will go back to work today.

However, Dr Alphonse Tay, declared that the nurses strike was illegal and legal action would be taken against the nurses as well as docking their pay.

But Dr Tay says after yesterday's meeting, they've reached an agreement with the nurses regarding their pay.

"In the MOU signed last night, the management has agreed not to dock their pays but as of today if they don't come to work then their pays will be docked."
