Taiwan has given millions of dollars worth of medical equipment to the National Referral Hospital in Solomon Islands.

An agreement to formalise the sister relationship between the hospital and Taiwan's Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital was signed on Wednesday in Honiara.

As part of the new co-operation, the National Referral Hospital in Honiara received equipment from Taiwan that included a new ultrasonic machine.

The SIBC reports the Former Permanent secretary of the ministry of Health and Medical Services Dr Judson Leafasia, saying the ultrasonic machine will help to better diagnose patients.
