Philippine Airlines changes stop from Hawaii to Guam

7:21 am on 7 January 2006

Philippine Airlines says its services from the United States West Coast to Manila will stop in Guam instead of Hawaii from next Thursday.

The switch will initially cover its Boeing 747 flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco, but would soon be implemented on its Airbus A340 service from both cities.

The stops are required during the northern winter months of November to March, when headwinds are strong enough to affect aircraft flying westward across the Pacific.

Flights from Manila to the US West Coast are nonstop because they have tailwinds.
