Moresby residents to have opportunity to farewell former PNG prime minister

Port Moresby residents will have the opportunity to view the body of former Papua New Guinea prime minister Sir William Skate on Wednesday.

The National newspaper reports that Sir William's body will be taken to the Sir John Guise Stadium for public viewing.

Acting Prime Minister Sir Moi Avei says the public would be given every opportunity to pay their respects to the Sir William.

Sir William's body is currently in the care of his family, tomorrow the body will be taken to Sir William's step-father's house at Kaugere and later to Pari village after lunch.

On Wednesday morning, the body will lay in State at Parliament House for MPs and diplomatic corps to pay their respects.

The funeral service will be held at the Sioni Kami Memorial Church on Thursday.

Sir Moi appealed to the public to behave in an orderly manner during this tragic time and show the respect befitting of a leader.
