The Fiji Trade Union Council says persistent threats by the military commander to remove the government may jeopardise investment and cost jobs.

Actar Singh the council secretary general says Commander Bainimarama must support the democratically elected government

"We fear as trade unions that this kind of exchange can have a negative effect on investor confidence and if that happens then it can also threaten jobs that we have now and also threaten job creation for the future."

Mr Singh's, whose organisation represents 20,000 workers, hopes a meeting this week between Commander Bainimarama and the vice president will sort out differences between the military and the government.
