Some operations have resumed at Papua New Guinea's Porgera Gold Mine after striking workers began returning to the site at the company's request.
Management closed down the mine last week after about a thousand of the plant's 2,500 workers went on strike.
The mine's general manager, Phil Stevenson, is quoted in the Post Courier newspaper as saying six days production was lost because of the strike.
He told the paper employees had begun returning to work and that preparations were underway to restart production.
He said the processing facility and mine was shut down as a precautionary measure in case the strikers did not return to work.
They took action amid concern of a loss of benefits.
