New Zealand PM to meet with US Pacific Commander

9:20 am on 20 January 2006

The New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark and the Defence Minister Phil Goff are to meet with the Honolulu-based head of the United States Pacific Command later today.

Phil Goff says the recent alleged attempted mutiny in Fiji may be up for discussion.

"Fiji will be one of the issues, but largely I think we'll be looking at a whole range of issues of co-operation, the situation in the Middle East, our co-operation in Antarctica, we'll be looking at overall interaction between us, and of course with a geo-strategic focus on what's happening in the Asia-Pacific region."
