The third Pacific International Documentary Film Festival has opened in French Polynesia.
Over four days, the House of Culture in Papeete will show a range of films to both the public and a mainly French jury.
The event has the backing of the territorial government, some local agencies as well as the Pacific Community.
The festival director, Pierre Ollivier, says the hallmark of this year's event is the entry of many Australian films.
"Last year we did not receive films from Australia - this year Australia is very present."
The festival will end on January the 28th
