Solomon Islands police arrest another man in connection with killing of Australian officer

Police in Solomon Islands have arrested a third man in connection with the killing of an Australian Federal Police officer more than a year ago.

The man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of conspiracy to murder.

29 year old Barnabas Basiagalo, was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Honiara Magistrate's court.

The attempted murder charges relate to October 2004, when two police officers from the regional assistance mission were shot at.

The two other men charged in connection with the death of the Federal Police officer, Adam Dunning, are on remand awaiting trial, another two are also awaiting trial in connection with the attempted murder.

Mr Dunning was shot and killed in December 2004 while he was on a routine patrol with another officer in Honiara.
