Fiji's tourism minister is in New Zealand to reassure holiday-makers that his country is a stable and safe vacation destination.

The head of the military, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, had threatened at the beginning of the year, to topple the government over its policies.

This latest dispute seems to have been resolved for now and the tourism minister, Pita Nacuva, is on a mission to convince New Zealanders that Fiji is secure.

"As far as people visiting Fiji in terms of security and safety I wanted to assure people in New Zealand it remains so. Police are looking to that and so is the government and so is the military."
