Australia has won the extradition of a man from New Zealand so he can be charged with the murder of a woman on Norfolk Island nearly four years ago.
The 28 year-old chef Glenn McNeill from the South Island city of Nelson will be tried on Norfolk Island for killing of the Sydney woman Janelle Patton in April 2002.
Geoff Moffett reports.
"About 20 family and friends were in the Nelson district court this morning when Mr McNeill's lawyer Gary Barkle said his client did not oppose the extradition order, sought by the Australian federal police."
A right of appeal against the extradition was also waived.
Mr McNeill was arrested in Nelson last week after Australian police said they had uncovered new DNA evidence.
Mr McNeill's lawyer said his client would be flown to Auckland tomorrow morning, and then on to Norfolk Island where he will be formally charged with Ms Patton's murder.
Family members in court cried as Mr McNeill was led away.
