The government owned Samoa Broadcasting Corporation's television network is to face competition this week, with the launching of a second station.
LAU TV's chief executive officer Tuiasau Uelese Petaia is quoted by the Samoa Observer as saying the new commercial station will offer a variety of features including Super 14 rugby matches.
LAU TV, due to be launched tomorrow, has been negotiating with Fiji Television for the rights to broadcast live Super 14 games and other top rugby matches.
Tuiasau says it has been a very long negotiation process with Fiji Television and they have been pretty lucky.
LAU TV will broadcast 24 hours a day from facilities it leases from the local Christian TV network GBN.
