American Samoa lawmaker commends Samoa for drug crackdown

An American Samoa lawmaker has commended the Samoa Police force for cracking down on an alleged "ice" syndicate in Apia.

Representative Muavaefaatasi Ae Ae Jr., told the House that he congratulated the Samoa Police Commissioner, Papali'i Lorenese Neru, on working to halt the drug problem in Samoa especially that bust earlier this week.

He said the Samoa Police Commissioner and his officers should be commended for their work.

Eight unidentified people were arrested for their involvement in an alleged large-scale drug syndicate and will appear in court next Tuesday.

They are being held at Tafaigata Prison on drug-related offenses and other charges.

Names won't be released until their court appearances.
